UNSAFE PLASTIC! It used to be my favorite brewing device until one day water + tea ruined it. Let me be absolutely clear, I didn't cause this damage by brushing, scratching or scraping! After giving a lot of thought to what ingredients will melt the plastic and become soft enough to be scratched with herbal tea. I realized that the quality of the plastic is to blame. IT IS ABSOLUTELY NOT SAFE TO DRINK (especially HOT LIQUID). While this plastic looks durable, it doesn't hold up to the combination of hot water and herbal tea. It is going to be. Maybe not right away, or maybe not for those who don't shoot for more than 5 minutes. receive this damage at some point. This is a guarantee. By the way, I don't even use boiling water! My kettle shuts off at 194F. Plastic that hot liquids can be drunk from will never be damaged by hot water and herbs/flowers/fruits with relatively low abrasion. The only way a safe, durable plastic can suffer this kind of damage is by scratching it with a metal sponge. You can clearly see that the top line of damage is bubbles of melted plastic. Then there are scratches on the next line - that's from a few movements with a soft plastic stick! The plastic melts by itself and the swirling tea leaves brush against it. this is this damage. Yes, I am sure that you can use this product relatively safely for some time. But it will happen one day. I've only used it for a few months. so it might not even last long. What does that mean. They are literally drinking melted plastic!
