Stay away - Inconsistent dimensional accuracy - 5 machines clogged

I run a print shop and use over 150kg of filament a year. I have NEVER had such a bad yarn problem after two years of use as I have with this yarn. It has been harder to get yarn during the coronavirus, so sometimes you have to buy cheap yarn that you don't really need. This isn't usually a problem and he can score more often, but generally doesn't interrupt the game. However, "Sronghero3D PLA 1.75mm Galaxy Black 1kg (2.2lb) 3D Printer Filament” is the worst! It rated 3 of my machines 10 minutes apart after an hour of typing. I knew it was a huge red flag, but I had to do these prints in one night. I just replaced four machines to keep this thread running all night. Three such failures is unheard of. I've been running in 215C and have been investigating running at higher temperatures where using high speed in Cura can help with blockages. So I increased the temperature to 230 degrees to work all night. I needed to go to bed but when I woke up to my dismay there were 2 other cars full that night! It's unacceptable! I bought 8 rolls of this stuff and now I have to return it all! What a waste of my time! I've never encountered this in two years of 3D printing, where several rolls had major problems with their dimensional accuracy. I suspect it has something to do with the particles in the filament as the manufacturer says in the description they are 0.05mm. They also say that the dimensional accuracy is +-0.05mm. Normally I can edit +-0.05mm without any problems, but not today. Particles as small as 0.05mm and dimensional accuracy even better than +-0.1mm means a bad day for 3D printing. Stay away, away, away from this thread and the Stronghero3D brand if you can.

Pros
  • 3D printing filament
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
