Product not reliable

I was looking forward to a USB-C hub with a USB-C import port. Unfortunately, this hub doesn't recognize many devices connected to it via USB-C. On several occasions when an adapter was connected with a microSDXC or SDXC memory card, my 2015 12" MacBook showed the drive but the folders showed as empty and the data on the memory cards was inaccessible . When flash drives were connected to USB 3.0 ports, the connected drives were disabled when a USB-C device was inserted or removed from the USB-C port. hit or miss Sometimes even very gently moving the hub would result in devices being disconnected from the drive (they weren't physically disconnected, they were no longer showing up as connected.) This is another frustration in a long list of USB-C-related frustrations -Devices. There seems to be a lot of issues with the controller chips for USB-C devices. I've only had consistently positive results with the Apple Hub, which is expensive. Until reliable USB-C devices are available, buyers should exercise extreme caution when purchasing USB connectors. with peripherals. I thought a company like StarTech wouldn't release a defective product, but the hub I have is definitely defective and will be sent back.
