A functional and indispensable hub

I was very happy with this multiport hub from StarTech. We have a Huawei Matebook that only has a Type-C USB port for charging and connecting other devices (Huawei Signature Edition 2 in 1 PC, 128GB/Intel Core m3, Space Gray (MateBook)), so we really had to buy a docking station/hub so we can connect other USB devices to keep Huawei working for us. The only hub they offer is very expensive and also includes ports that we will never personally use (VGA, Ethernet) and only comes with 2 standard…

A harbinger of change - USB Type-C is on the way!

Not long ago I didn't have any devices with USB Type-C ports. A few months later I have at least three computers with USB Type-C support. Since I travel with these devices, I had to set up doing what is included in my kit. From my point of view, I'm lucky that each of my three new computers also has a USB 3.0 A port. The USB 3.0 port allows me to use externally powered USB 3.0 hubs and larger hard drives. I'm still learning the details of USB Type-C. I know it offers a lot of performance, but…

Unreliable - don't recommend

Connects to the USB-C port on my NUC and provides passthrough to the StarTech 2 x 2.5" chassis; he was totally unreliable. You never know if the hard drives in the case will catch fire. When the case is connected directly to the NUC, it boots up like a charm and continues to work. Similar unreliable performance with StarTech 2 x 3.5" chassis, but not sure if this is also due to loss of all data on the two 3.5" drives in this chassis (which were thrown in the trash) . Regardless, don't return…

Competent device in network products

I haven't had much luck with hubs. You buy one, sometimes it works, doesn't have that much connectivity, or just doesn't show up on your computer. I'm not a techie when it comes to peripherals, but the only thing that worked well for me with the same connection as connecting directly to your computer was what came with the X-Box. Understand yourself. This is a USB-C hub with a USB-C import port. It says it can connect almost any USB peripheral wherever I go. Though not always. I had several…

Very good centre, make sure you know what you are getting!

First, make sure you know what it is. It's designed to connect to a computer with a USB-C port and then give you an effective USB-C pass-through connection, and you get three built-in USB 3.0 ports in addition to your original USB-C . This is NOT a hub that you plug into a USB 3.0 port and provides a USB-C connection. I hope this helps to understand the meaning. In other words, if your computer doesn't have a USB-C port, you don't need it. If you have a USB-C port and need more old-style USB…

Product not reliable

I was looking forward to a USB-C hub with a USB-C import port. Unfortunately, this hub doesn't recognize many devices connected to it via USB-C. On several occasions when an adapter was connected with a microSDXC or SDXC memory card, my 2015 12" MacBook showed the drive but the folders showed as empty and the data on the memory cards was inaccessible . When flash drives were connected to USB 3.0 ports, the connected drives were disabled when a USB-C device was inserted or removed from the USB-C
