Only then can you test COM ports on vcds-lite. Despite this, none of the tested ports work. I had to open Device Manager, find the most likely device in the list of USB devices, open that device's properties and change the COM port to an available, unused port ranging from COM 1 to COM 4. In my case it was COM 1 I finally got this cable working, but only after over 2 hours of hassle and frustration that I don't need.
