I think it works fine but when I first opened the box and installed the filter there was a smell of oily plastic. It went away, but didn't go away until the 3rd day. So if you are sensitive to such things, use a brand name. The filter material is not as thick as the Blue brand and the pleats are not as big, so the filtering area is smaller. I don't know if that would affect the performance of the filter, and I probably wouldn't know if it would. This is the 3rd time I have replaced the filter, the first 2 times with the Blue brand and with no problems. This time I opted for a cheaper alternative for a change. It's definitely cheaper in both senses of the word.
