Good little binoculars for the price. I bought these to take to the beach and wanted something more powerful than my 10X Celestron monocular. I'm happy with the image quality and compact size of this device, but I was surprised by the small image size. As a certified astronomer with 26 years of planetarium management experience, I am familiar with optics and optical instruments. I ran a photographic test and in fact, despite being labeled as 12x, it actually only has a 6-6.75 performance. Since anyone who can design optics for binoculars knows how to properly measure their magnification, I can only conclude that the company made them and labeled them 12x to fool the buyer. I have sent an email to the company's technical support department, but have not received a reply. Buy them because they have a good image or because they are cheap or small, but don't expect real 12x binoculars!
