does crazy stuff at times

I bought this unit before going on vacation to a lot of places hoping it would save me the hassle of constantly looking at a map. The block worked most of the time and the instructions are very clear. It also has nice features like junction view, traffic information, as well as points of interest that I can use to find gas stations, hotels, etc. However, the device tends to get confused from time to time. For example, in central San Francisco, probably due to high-rise buildings, it completely lost its position, and I had to drive many blocks "blindโ€ to a more open place for the device to pick up the signal again. Also, it lost signal when I was on the Bay Bridge thinking I was driving in the middle of the ocean, then gave me directions to some very remote industrial sites and I had to reset the device to get it working again. Of course wasted after about 30 minutes. Another problem with the device is the search function - it could be a little smarter. Depending on what you entered, you could spend 10 minutes getting nothing โ€” for example, searching for San Jose Airport, "sjc", "San Jose Airport" or "San Jose Domestic Airport" doesn't work because the device only knows ". international airport norman y mineta sj" and I had to find it by the landmark and because of the spelling I missed it the first few times. The lesson I've learned is that even if I'm driving with a GPS, I had to learn my route beforehand in order not to become completely dependent on this device.

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Negligible maintainability
