I have a 3 gallon reef pico which I finally filled up yesterday after pumping water out of a large tank for a while. he eats like he lives in a pigsty and eats often because of his size and I had to increase the filtration there (two canisters and buffer, plus more or less change for flow at the bottom of the tank). I also have a tank of about a gallon Fresh water Vivosun Aquaponic? The tank won't work without an actual filtration system so I bought one of these corner style. There are only two tiny male guppies, so the filter works well there. I really like these things. Apart from the angled variant for the aquaponic aquarium, I didn't really need them when I bought them, but they came in very handy in unexpected emergencies (recently 40g broke, no idea why as it's just puffer fish and a couple of hermit crabs, and panicked I set up another 3 gallon hospital using 2 tiny whispers and 2 such square filters and replaced the biological media with broken 40g ceramic rings, which I did for all 3 of these filters by the way; my large puffer stayed there and I recovered for a week while I stabilized his tank and the small 4 filter tank managed to deal with his messy food (6 inch fish and weighs at least a pound)) Anyhow the outlet can be adjusted higher or lower become whatever I tie the hoses for... when I need to slow down air travel but not with them hydro power works well for my tanks as i I don't use WaveMakers. I will be buying more to have on hand because I have other empty tanks and will be moving my puffer to a larger tank soon so I need these to help him cycle. That's a lot of words to say they are great, the price is great and now I'm in love with aquarium filters.
