Description of 🐠 SunGrow Sponge Betta Filter (10-Gallons) - Ultra Quiet Underwater Corner Filter, Optimal Oxygenation for Tropical Fish and Shrimp Tanks, Compatible with Air Pump and Airline Tubing

βœ” GREAT RESOURCE FOR OXYGEN --- The highly effective Sponge Betta Filter from SunGrow helps keep your aquatic pets and plants healthy and thriving by creating oxygen bubbles in your aquarium water. Just like humans, plants and pets need oxygen to survive. Keeping the square corner filter in your tank ensures that they always have a sufficient supply. βœ” DROP OFF THE FEAR OF FISH OR FRY GETTING STUCK --- One internal multi-layered sponge filter works in any aquarium or fish tank up to 10 gallons. Additional sponge pads can be added to larger tanks. Unlike the traditional filters, the gentle, slow current keeps fry or small fish calm making it perfect for the betta, dwarf cichlids, guppies, shrimp, and fish breeding tanks or hatcheries, maternity, and fry tanks. βœ” MULTIPLE LAYERS OF REFINEMENT IN ONE --- With three distinct layers of refinement, the Square Sponge from SunGrow has triple the strength of a single layer filter. A white cotton pad is the top layer while a green sponge is the second and maifanite gravel makes up the third layer. βœ” HIGH-QUALITY, DURABLE MATERIALS --- The multi-layer corner filter is made of high-quality, durable materials. The high hardness plastic exterior houses an effective sponge filter, cotton filter and maifanite stone filter media. βœ” EASY TO INSTALL WITH LOW-MAINTENANCE --- The square 4.3” x 3” (11cm x 7.5cm) sponge betta filter is placed directly into your aquarium or fish tank and you need to simply connect it to your air pump via airline. It is recommended that you place this in one corner of the tank so as to maintain the aquarium aesthetics and fish and other creatures move unhindered. For its optimal performance, rinse the filter every 3-4 weeks and replace it every 4-6 months (depending on your specific usage).

Excellent filter, protection from idiots

Works absolutely perfectly! The water in my tank is crystal clear (10 gallons) and the nitrate/nitrite levels have never been more stable. The only "problem" is that it bubbles up too fast for a beta fish, but I fixed that very easily by installing an airflow regulator along the hose from my pump (sold separately). I love how quiet it is and I'm glad I have to say goodbye to changing the charcoal filter!

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons

Too strong - aquarium pumps and filters

Bought this mainly because it was advertised as a gentle flow for betta fish. It's not crazy, but it's still the same water running through the aquarium blowing my poor little fish apart. I feel bad when its my fault so I wasted my money looking for a new one. By turning it on, the flow of water actually intimidates the little guy, and he should feel safe in his house. Safe and able to move at will. (I have a 1 betta and a 3.5 gallon tank)

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Some bugs

Great filter, use valves to reduce air pressure if too high

I have angle filters but I just added the square ones to another tank. They work well, and those who say it's too strong must be using a valve to regulate the air pressure from your pump. I have valves to slow it down and it works very well. I have tried all types of filters but I really like both, they fill very well and are easy to clean when needed. If the reviews say it's too strong for your 5 gallon or tiny tank, well, your tank is too small for anything to really thrive in it. Get the…

These are amazing things

I have a 3 gallon reef pico which I finally filled up yesterday after pumping water out of a large tank for a while. he eats like he lives in a pigsty and eats often because of his size and I had to increase the filtration there (two canisters and buffer, plus more or less change for flow at the bottom of the tank). I also have a tank of about a gallon Fresh water Vivosun Aquaponic? The tank won't work without an actual filtration system so I bought one of these corner style. There are only two
