Review on Cricut Standard Grip Mat Mats by Gelin Battle

Revainrating 4 out of 5

One minor complaint (smell) otherwise I'm a big fan of

Edit: I had to go back and clarify that they REALLY need airing before use. Not only do they smell awful (see the original review), the smell transferred to the paper I was cutting so I had to air them out well before using them again. I hung the rugs on a skirt hanger (with clips) and hung them in front of a partially open window for a few days and the smell was almost gone. I don't know if the ones sold in stores smell that bad or if they're just Revain stock, but it's something to be aware of. Original Rating: I would give these rugs 5 stars if they didn't smell so bad (edit: insecticide, like cheap flea collars). They smell right out of the box. Next time I'll have to open them outside (on a good day) and let them air out for a few hours so I don't get a headache from the smell. Next time it will be a while because they last a lot longer than other rugs I have. I use them with my Silhouette Cameo. Most of what I do is print and cut, so I don't even have to cut the rugs to fit, although that might help a bit. (You may need to trim them if you are cutting something without registration marks.) I've flipped a few rugs over the course of a few months - 2 of these and about 6 of the Silhouette rugs and they have outlasted the Silhouette rugs by a significant margin. . I keep crappy old Silhouette mats when I cut something very light (regular carbon paper) and use them for cards.

Pros
  • cutting mats
Cons
  • cord is shorter than others
