Review on 🔧 ACDelco Advantage 46D2259A: Front Lower Suspension Ball Joint for Enhanced Performance by Eric Fish

I used this on the left (driver's) side of a 2006 Chevy Equinox (largely identical to the Pontiac Torrent and Saturn Vue). It can be used from any side. Pros: Good quality OEM. Cheap. Cons: Additional work is required to install in 06 Equinox. to the control lever. To install this I had to unscrew the rivet heads from the old ball joint and then use a hammer and punch to pry the bottoms of the rivets out of the old ball joint and control arm. The rivets are of course smaller than the bolts that this ball joint is equipped with. To compensate for this difference, the control lever must be drilled out. The new ball joint was fitted and aligned with two shims and then clamped. After making sure the clamp was secure, I drilled holes for the rivets with a 13/16-inch titanium-coated drill bit*. After the control arm was drilled, the ball joint was installed using the hardware provided. Although the wishbone required drilling, this is a good quality ball joint. Drilling only takes about 5 extra minutes if you have extra tools on hand. I am ordering another to replace my right ball joint. * I think it was 13/16". Maybe it was 11/16". It was definitely one of the two I used. I did this almost a year ago. I'll do the right (passenger) side soon and update the assessment of which drill bit size will definitely be used.
