This is my first mandolin so I'm no expert but it's awesome. I hate the hassle and won't use anything if I have to disassemble it or hand wash it etc. This mandolin is made for those who, like me, love light and simple implements without the fuss and still get results. Again, this is my first job so can't compare the results, but I like to thinly slice watermelon radish and other foods for garnish and plates (see used mandolin, but it's all done in a minute) . You don't have to remove the blade, you can wash it in the dishwasher, and determining thickness is as easy as moving a knob to 1, 2, or 3. I use it with a handle and didn't buy any cry gloves separately ( I'm dangerous in the kitchen!) . After the Vitamix, this is my favorite kitchen appliance I've bought this year. It's insanely affordable! I highly recommend.
