What I love about these looms is the stitch spacing, which is just over 1/4 inch (1mm more). This means it is excellent for finer yarns and less than full 4 count yarns. When comparing patterns, these looms produce a much tighter weave and smaller pattern than typical KB small-gauge looms. This can be very good in some projects! What I don't like is the instability of the pegs. I have found that I often have to reattach them before they are fully out. This is not a problem for me as I have been knitting for several years. I think this will be very difficult for a beginner, as the tension and her focus on wrapping doesn't allow for wicked attachments. I think the plastic is very strong and durable as advertised. However, I'm wondering if gluing them together would be better than sliding them back into place all the time. All in all I still like them. I don't like shrink wrap on a long loom because it squeezes two poles together and ruins the tension in my projects. Shrink wrap is not intended for plastic products as it will distort the product.
