AWESOME for Deep Fat. I absolutely LOVE this strainer. I bought it because I like making my own croutons (just sliced bread, deep fried in olive oil, seasoned with garlic powder, onion powder and parmesan cheese.. However. I used to use a couple of large spoons to scoop out the croutons after frying, but this works MUCH better!It's solidly built, looks like it's ALL stainless steel, has a nice long handle so I don't have to get my hands that close to the hot oil, and has a nice big "basket" to catch lots of crackers at once, and drains water very quickly. fast and way better than skimmers I've used before. Wires are 1/8 to 1/4" apart - close enough that nothing can fall off, and far enough away that they drain really well.(I think this will NOT work for something like quinoa - some grains will fail, but most pasta should work just fine.)
