This inverter is better than average. I bought it to power my laptop for mobile ham radio work. The most important characteristic of an inverter is how much (or how little) radio noise it generates. When used in a car, the inverter is very close to the antennas, so any noise will interfere with the radio signals and render the radio unusable. While this device isn't completely silent, it's quiet enough that the noise it generates can be suppressed by winding AC and DC cables through ferrite cores. I have had this unit for several years and have found it quite reliable. A colleague bought a larger model from this line and it is too noisy to use near radios.
