This pump is very easy to use for an elderly person compared to my previous pump which was almost 40 years old! It has a large easy to read meter which I love. I am 75 years old and I can definitely say that using the foot pump is much more comfortable. There's one small issue that's easy to work around: the gray slide latches that hold the pump in place, making it smaller and more compact (handy for storage). I don't use them, but they tend to close up when I'm pumping, which isn't very desirable. However, this can easily be remedied by taping them in the open position. If you want to keep your pump or take it anywhere in your car, just peel off the tape!
