Does the work of two Pi cameras

I used the camera to monitor the hens in the coop. I used the MotionEyeOS software which made it very easy to install the camera. The night vision was fine, but the distance was too close so the hens were lit up too much, but there was no way to turn down the power on the infrared lights. The daytime recording was crisp and clear - even in a dusty coop. There was a problem with the settings - I would get 2 sec recordings of motion, and then it would drop and another 2 sec motion file. I haven't spent the time to work on the setting yet, but the camera itself is great. I would definitely buy it again when I need another Pi camera. It's nice to have the flexibility for both night vision and daytime recording. It was cheaper than buying a Pi camera and a NOIR camera. Besides to use both of those camera, I'd have to use 2 Pi's.

Pros
  • Utilizes a powerful 5MP OV5647 sensor for superior image quality
Cons
  • Weak shock resistance
