I bought this on a deal day with ebay because the price was right and the existing scanner I had was not very good at locating items behind the wall. When the battery is strong, it seems to find things quite easily, although there were a few times were I had to go over the surface a few times because the readings were slightly different each time. This could easily be related to the depth of the item behind the wall board though. Regardless, scan the wall a few times and you'll see some consistency in the readings and able to identify the location. Just keep a strong battery in it. It definitely wasn't as effective when the battery was nearing it's life span, but that will be true of most anything. No real quibbles with the product.
