We grill a lot of fish in the summer and lamb and beef in the winter. When grilling an expensive cut of meat like prime fillet, it's important to preserve the quality of the meat. The remote-readable thermometer allows you to control the temperature while entertaining your guests. Here in Alaska, too, it is often more comfortable inside than outside. All of these devices measure the temperature at the tips of metal probes and transmit the temperature information to a receiver over an RF link. This allows the user to remotely monitor the temperature at the probe tip. I was looking for these RF remote thermometers to replace an older device and settled on the ThermoPro TP-20. After carefully reading the instructions, I inserted the batteries that came with it (very handy), inserted the two temperature sensors, and the transmitter and receiver established a wireless connection without any action on my part. Two sensors showed the same temperature The sensors showed the same temperature reading, a quick check if the device was calibrated. I haven't had a dual-sensor remote thermometer before, but I've used both to monitor the two ends of a 6-degree probe. pound fillet. There are rare meat lovers and well-done meat lovers in my family, and being able to keep track of the thin and thick ends of the fillet has allowed me to adjust the various heat sources on my gas grill. I usually use a charcoal grill and don't have the ability to control the heat to that extent, but it's still useful information. Of course I'm logging data, so it would be interesting to log temperature differences as well. When planning meals, it's helpful to know that it takes 1:30 to cook a 6-pound gas-cooked tenderloin with meat at this temperature and outside temperature on this setting. The manufacturer claims that the transmitter and receiver will communicate at a maximum distance of 300 feet, a distance I haven't measured, but it certainly worked well at 120 feet and through heavy plaster walls. I am very impressed with this achievement. The receiver, the system's controller, has presets for FDA-approved cooking temperatures for a variety of grilled foods. Although I didn't use this function, the device also allows other temperatures to be set instead. You can switch from Fahrenheit to Celsius and access the timer and other functions. Read the instructions! Instructions are easy to follow. The unit was well packaged and had everything that was advertised. It is easy to use and provides accurate temperature information. My first use was to grill a gas fired fillet for almost two hours. I strongly recommend this device.
