Review on Lipper International 7218 Kitchen Chopping by Toni Cooper

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good board turned great after a bit of DIY

The only two downsides (so far) to this board are, as everyone else has mentioned, the label and a bit of savings in finishing. Vegetable oil was applied to the glue, left for a few minutes and wiped with soap and a sponge. Mineral oil would probably work as well, but it should still appear on the board. Second, since the board was a bit rough around the edges, particularly in the sap groove and grips, I used a 1000 grit to do some light hand rubs all over the board (probably overdone, but that's what I had). This worked double to remove any remnants of the label adhesive. Finish off with a quick rub of mineral oil + wax conditioner and voila. Is this the perfect board? Of course not. But I feel that both quality and value should be considered when evaluating. About 20 minutes with minimal effort transformed this board into a kitchen center that rivals boards 2 or 3 times the price. Let's hope that the low price will not affect the durability of the structure in the future. But still, many other much more expensive boards have had enough reports of cracking or warping to make this board a wise choice. (Seriously, Lipper. Labels are such a cheap part of the production chain. Find better label stock.)
