First off, no this is by no means a Gen 3 night vision scope, it's Gen 1 but I'm amazed at how well it works. Went out one night with a friend who had a thermal monocular and was looking for various animals in my area. Although he could see things first, this night vision monocular could identify some animals better than a thermal imaging camera. I think most of the limitations here are due to the IR illumination and not the sensor itself. It has 9 different IR brightness levels, 6 screen brightness levels, a colored day picture and a black and white day picture. Night photos with different distances and IR brightness levels. The internal screen is good enough, but there's nothing surprising about it. The zoom is on the eyecup for optics; I just left it zoomed out, digital zoom with the other buttons on top, but wouldn't bother using it 2x. Connecting to the phone works, but it's a little fiddly considering you have to reconnect it every time you turn it on and it gets stuck in the menu. A real downside is that the strap is in a stupid spot and is 99% useless. In general, for a decent night vision goggle, this is a lot. I'll use a separate light to mount it and see if I get better results remotely.
