I bought this lens to get a mid-range prime lens that is actually f/1.4 without spending over $1000 like the Olympus Pro range (45mm f/1.2 for example). I currently have an Oly 45mm f/1.8 and an Oly 75mm f/1.8. Both are outstanding in their own right. While 75 offers some of the most outstanding IQ and bokeh in the MFT range, it's a rather odd length, in my opinion, that often calls for creative composition - not necessarily a bad one; but as such just a lens that doesn't come out of my bag that often. When the Sigma 56mm f/1.4 C was released I bought it on a whim and was amazed by the results. The only lens I've seen is as sharp (sharper?) and renders as well as my 75. It's also 2/3 levels faster and weatherproof. Not to mention a more usable focal length. End of the story. I have sold both 45 f/1.8 and 75 lenses and now this is my portrait lens. Couldn't be happier.
