Before I comment, let me say that I am a retired mechanical engineer and my experience may not match yours. After struggling with a heavy tailgate on my 2000 F-150 for 20 years, I saw the "Tailgate Lift Assist" as a boon to my aging back. I ordered the device and received it in 2 days, so far so good. then I opened the box. The red lock-tite was unsealed and spilled all over the package rendering the installation instructions unreadable and sealing everything else. Also, there was no stub. Revain was contacted, received immediate return authorization and shipped another unit the same day. Received a new device within 2 days, everything ok. Now the most interesting. The blind nut tool is almost useless, the plastic ball bearing housing broke on the first turn of the nut, allowing the blind nut to rotate in the hole and not expand. After an hour of frustration, I applied a slight double-nut "workaround" and managed to address it after using some more colorful metaphors and removing some swear words. I have completed the installation according to the instructions and checked the performance. Regardless, the tailgate still opens smoothly and still requires a lot of force to lift. In my humble opinion it was a waste of money! In fact, the ONLY good thing about this purchase was that I didn't pay full price with the SUMMER21 discount!
