I first bought it to replace my IOGEAR 2 port KVM. I chose this model because of its 4 ports, great reviews (from sites other than Revain), modular non-proprietary cables, separate USB ports for connecting USB hubs, and because it has its own power supply. When I was done setting up. Tonight I found that it works much better than I expected. Location: I installed it under my desk with 3x 3M velcro to eliminate the risk of it falling, it seems more than enough. Since it's under the table, the IR port is blocked by the table support, so I can't easily use the IR remote (I was a bit worried because it didn't have a wired remote). The keyboard shortcuts are solid and work whether pass-through is enabled or not, so it wasn't a loss for me. TL; DR you can just hide this KVM and use wireless keyboard/mouse shortcuts for any function. Video Performance: My old IOGEAR KVM was limited to 60Hz which was disappointing because my monitor supports 165Hz so I had to run a straight through cable and use KVM for USB only. This new KVM didn't advertise it, but I can transmit 144Hz over HDMI! I know it's not the full 165Hz but I'm so happy I can now use KVM without switching monitor inputs. USB Performance: I haven't really tested throughput on flash drives or similar, but I did connect it to ANKER powered on. USB hub and recognized all devices instantly (as you'd expect) with no hiccups. I connected it to USB 2.0 ports (in case you're interested). Keyboard and Mouse: There are 2 ports marked K/M, but it is not specified which one. I found it confusing, but unlike IOGEAR KVM, it doesn't matter which one you connect it to. I'm using a Logitech K800 and all media keys work (in passthrough mode). However, I found that every non-default key acted as a "menu/right-click" key when I wasn't in passthrough mode. A bit annoying but easy to fix. With the mouse, however, it was a slightly different story. I use a Logitech G603 and found that when plugged into a mouse port on the KVM the cursor would jump across the screen at times and was generally unreliable. I haven't really played around with it much because I didn't get any benefit from hooking up a mouse to KVM as I didn't want to use "gestures". So I plugged it into a powered USB hub and it works great (including being recognized by the Logitech software). So I've used KVM a lot in my life and found that they all have a unique problem that gets in the way like hell. me. But I have to say that this is the first KVM I've used out of the box with no problems. I highly recommend this item. I'll update my review if anything goes wrong in a few months/years :) Well done TESmart.
