Prepworks Nut Chopper - Just OK

Prepworks Progressive Nut Chopper with Non-Slip Base I first used this chopper to chop pecans and was immediately disappointed with the size of the pieces cut. As soon as I set the course, the pieces seemed very small to me – a little smaller than nut flour. I haven't tried fine tuning because I don't need nut flour. I remembered my grandma had a crank nut grinder as a kid that seemed to grind pecans really well, so I started looking for one of those old nut grinders on eBay. It turns out there are endless supplies of these vintage Androck brand nut grinders for sale on eBay. I quickly bought a chopper from Androck, very similar to the one I had when I was a kid. After thoroughly cleaning the item, I began using it and was surprised to find that the size of the cut pieces were almost identical to the sizes this Prepworks shredder achieved when setting up the course. I have found that the small chunks of nuts produced by both grinders impart a different flavor to the food than the larger chunks of nuts that are perceived when biting into them. Since you can only select very small or tiny pieces of nuts with the Prepworks Grinder, I'm deducting a star. I've only used this chopper for a few small jobs but it seems durable and well made. It produces very small pieces of crushed walnuts and does an excellent job. If you don't mind small pieces, you'll probably love this article. I chose a sharp knife to trim the nuts with.
