You get what you pay for.

The quality of these sketchbooks correlates with the price you pay for them. I don't like them for watercolor because for some reason the paper shows through the paint with weird specks. I prefer to use gouache in this album as the paper doesn't show through as much with opaque media. I've had these albums for about a year now and I haven't even checked through one of them yet because I'm on the lookout for others. Sketchbooks far more often than I reach for them. I really don't recommend this unless you're on a budget and that's all you can afford. In that case definitely worth buying; I'd rather draw on this paper than nothing at all. Advantages:. Accessible! Because it's cheap, you don't have to feel guilty about experimenting or just playing with color. Lies flat. I like the transparent pocket on the back of the book (photo attached). Minuses:. Bad paper quality. weak bond. I've attached a few photos that have the binding between the captions torn/split. It doesn't bother me too much since it's still usable, but it's ugly. The paper is not double-sided. One side is heat pressed and the other side has a smooth finish, which I wouldn't recommend using watercolor on (although gouache will do!). Overall, I cannot recommend this sketchbook.
