I had a really good time carving this DALA horse. This is the very first time I've drawn a carving. Since the kit contained literally everything you need and more, it is of great value to give a gift to someone, and even to yourself. The wood was cut decently and very cleanly. The knife was ready to use and clearly did the job. I found the instruction manual very easy to follow, with nice big pictures and a simple but concise step-by-step format. Use your own imagination if you like. Especially in the painting department. I like it the most. I don't want to be told how to cut something. It takes away the joy. So the minimum recommendations from Beaver Crafts are excellent for my kind of mentality. Overall, it's definitely worth making for yourself or as a gift for any new or experienced carver.
