Just buy it! TOTALLY WORTH THE MONEY

Easy to fit if you only want to use the number plate holes. In my case, it's an older Subaru, so I didn't worry about cosmetics underneath. I removed the bumper because of the 3-4 inches of foam between the plastic and the structural part of the bumper. I cut out some foam and added 2 pieces of 2x2 square tubing and welded them to the car, then threaded the bolts through the brace and attached them to the frame using the tubing as a spacer to add rigidity. There is enough room for the screws I screwed in to still have access to the factory license plate holes. I wouldn't try to remove the screws just to get to the plate. In general, I'm sure I overdid it, but. I'm a solid AFO Obviously this is a light bar mount and not a safety cover although it is solid and is a 90 degree bent steel plate. So if you need something for extra structural support for your weekend adventures, I can't say it will hold up to abuse. But as a good option for a cool license plate holder, with or without a backlight - it's cool. It even gives the Outback a slightly aggressive look. By price! Don't be shy, it's easy to install and looks great. You don't have to go crazy like me (I did it in 4 hours). It can be installed in minutes and is suitable for most people. I only beefed it up because Subaru is meant to be played on the weekends and it's being abused. For everyday use, just use the factory holes. It would be nice if rubber washers/spacers were included in the kit. I didn't notice any vibrations, but as you can imagine I tend to overdo it a bit.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
