For a person who has a downstairs neighbor who smokes several times a day, this air filter is of great importance. It should be noted that filtering the air takes some time, and this is not a panacea for tobacco smoke. But it's important. Without this cleaner + filter, it smells like tobacco 24/7. Since the air purifier runs more or less constantly, I only have to deal with the smell 15-30 minutes after my neighbor starts smoking. The filter is not cheap but I only have to change it after 6 months and its effectiveness makes it worth the money. By the way, don't forget to clean the outside of the filter with a paper towel every few weeks. Other reviews have these photos with a bunch of crap on the outside of the filter, showing they don't.
