Review on Bilstein 24-187183 6-inch Lift Front Shock for GMC/Chevrolet 2500 1999-2006 by Michael Boyd

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Did 97,000 miles and ended up replacing them with Bilstein shocks and they ride much better than ever with Rancho shocks

Was between Rancho 9000XL shocks or these. My 2500HD Duramax already had Rancho 9000XL shocks with 97,000 miles on it and I ended up replacing them with Bilstein shocks and it handles much better than it ever has on the Rancho. They don't adjust for stiffness, but they are a much better quality shock and will not revert to a rancho or twin-tube shock. My truck's ride height is exactly the same as before and the front rattle is gone once my shocks work again. Both of my rear Rancho shocks were easy to manually compress with very slow rebound, and I was able to compress the front with two fingers and absolutely no rebound. Go with them and be happy. Now we'll see how long they last, but they seem to be of very high quality. The photos I've attached are of my rear shock absorber. Update 3.3.17 I have over 10,000 new shocks now and they are amazing. Don't waste your money on cheap ranchos or others and go for monotube shocks. No more swings, dips and bumpy rides.
