I don't know what they are made of exactly, but not 316L surgical steel. I bought these for my cartilage piercing and my ear was swollen and irritated. I ended up having to order something else because I couldn't lie (or talk on the phone) on that side of my head without pain. These are cute earrings but not for people who are allergic to metals.
