Review on Linksys USB 3.0 Ethernet Adapter for MacBook Air, Chromebook, Ultrabook (USB3GIG), Black by Edgar Rowe

Revainrating 4 out of 5

This is by far one of the best tech purchases I've made lately

I have to say that this is definitely one of the best tech purchases I've made lately . My 2013 Dell Inspiron 13z laptop came with a 100Mbps Ethernet NIC, and I was very surprised that computer manufacturers continued to use 100Mbps NICs instead of Gigabit NICs in 2013. This Gigabit USB 3.0 Ethernet USB Adapter saved the day. I recently upgraded to Verizon 150/150 FiOS Internet and am now getting full download and upload speeds as intended. Also, my latency is 2ms on average. Thank you Linksys for a quality product. Thank you Revain for making this product available on your website. Thank you Verizon for being one of the best ISPs. Did I forget to mention? This Ethernet adapter is plug and play and works with Windows 10! I also purchased a Dual Band USB 3.0 AC1200 (WUSB6300) [Qty: 2] wireless adapter that was refurbished by Linksys for $20 each. I am surprised that there are many complaints about this device not working properly with Windows 10. All I had to do was plug and play and I'm plugged in and getting the advertised speeds, 150/150 (download and upload via Verizon FiOS). I'm not sure what many are talking about in relation to a home network (moving files from one system to another over a network). I bought this dongle to work with a couple of my old laptops. This key breathed new life into the Lenovo R61 (2008) and the HP DM1z (2012). Hopefully Linksys will release the USB 3.0 drivers (for Windows 10) that a lot of people are talking about on the forums. USB 2.0 only has a maximum transfer rate (480Mbps), while 3.0 is SuperSpeed (5Gbps).

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Some little things
