Review on Enhance Your Golfing Experience with SkyCaddie SG2 Golf GPS (Black): A Perfect Tool for Accurate Course Navigation by Russ Montgomery

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Longtime owner of SG2

I have had my SG2 for 4 or 5 years now and love every minute of using it. I still use the original battery and it has never failed. I use it 5 or 6 days a week. I plug it in after every round and just leave it on overnight until I hit the golf course in the morning. When I forgot to charge my device overnight several times, I was able to play another 4 hours without any problems. My "Mark" button on the side of the unit stopped working about 1-1/2 years after original purchase, but I used this single feature so seldom that I never sent the unit in for repair. About 2 years after original purchase, the small, flexible cover that protects the USB port on the side of the device from dust and water has rotted away. I chose not to send the unit in for a replacement cover as the minimal repair and shipping cost was not worth replacing the cover which is priced at $1.00. I had no problem leaving the USB port open, but when it starts raining I push the device onto a cart. The current online program "Synchronization" is about 1000% better than the original program used to update and download the device firmware. courses. I find it relatively quick, mainly because it first has to read the courses it already has from your module. Finding and selecting courses to download is also easy. Downloading 10 courses probably takes less than 2 minutes. Although I broke the first belt clip, I found that it was easy and almost free to replace it with an easily available clone sold in almost every cell phone store. I don't wear my device on my belt, I just hang it on one of the several towel rings I keep in my bag. So he just flops down on the towel ring while I drive my cart around. Some people I play golf with simply place their device in one of the golf cart cup holders. When the weather is really bad my SG2 usually gets enough satellites to keep it working properly for a few minutes. Usually if I turn it on as I leave the club for the first tee, it's fully operational before I start playing. Worst case scenario, if I don't remember to turn it on before the first shot, it's fully functional before I have to choose a club for the second shot. I'm finally ready to give up the device and I'm hoping to sell it for $50. . When I retire the device I plan to stick with the SkyCaddie brand and trail mapping technology as I just ordered their new SGX model. It's kind of a fun Christmas gift for yourself. If I had the opportunity to reproduce my original SG2 purchase I would do it again and again with great pleasure knowing what I'm doing now after almost 5 years of use.
