A good product at a good price, I advise you to try it.

I used my first player to listen to my father's record collection, to which I have only lately added to. I knew the Melody was not going to sound great because of its low price and cheap plastic construction, but the sound it produced was still disappointing. There are no treble or high notes to the sound. I finally decided to buy an external phono stage after reading numerous reviews online. I upgraded my audio setup with a Nikitin phono stage (a CREEK product handcrafted in 2022). There was a noticeable increase in the sound's juiciness and energy. Certainly not Hi-Fi quality, but the sound is perfect for me, and I didn't even expect it to be this good from Melodiya's albums. Following online recommendations, I soldered the comres of the output cable straight to the wires from the pickup, thereby bypassing the phono stage board. I used to think the sound was superior, but now I'm not so sure. I would advise utilizing an external phono stage and possibly "biting" the internal one out of the circuit entirely, though this isn't necessary for a beginner. In conclusion, the model is not suitable for individuals seeking a standard sound right out of the box. Whoever is willing to spend the money on a phono stage should consider it. Listen to a clip from the 1979 release of the "Carmen Suite" album on the "C 01659-60" disc, if you're interested. The same piece that also includes a phono stage and phonocomre. Nikitin.

Pros
  • Value, tonearm, and aesthetics.
Cons
  • Included phono preamplifier.
