No carpenter. Only need one clamp for a special project. I need to place the clamp on a table and clamp a 1/4" tall object onto the table (the base of the clamp is the same height as the base of the object). I was surprised to learn that these clamps mostly attach to a solid Block intended to clamp an object whose maximum height is BELOW the base of the clamp attachment. The illustration shows that this clamp can be adjusted to provide a limited vertical clearance ABOVE the base of the clamp. No true. There is ZERO vertical clearance above mounting base height. The most you can hold is a piece of paper. You discuss many sizes, but seem to omit "Maximum vertical clearance" in future" shopping carts.
