The metal on this hook is not very smooth and most importantly the hook is sticking out too much which makes it very difficult to crochet. My other old hooks are closer to a straight piece of metal with the hook portion cut out of the barrel to allow the hook to slide in and out of the stitches smoothly. The hook on this set sticks out too far. It's so hard to break out of the hole and cling to everything else. Might be used if you could tolerate uneven, loose stitches, but it looks very sloppy to me. They returned.
