Review on Wind Weather Thermometer Finished Tabletop by Stephanie Mann

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Beautiful and functional

I got another Galileo thermometer a few years ago, it fell over and broke and it stinks! Whatever the clear liquid is, it's the smell of kerosene. So I wanted another, stronger one. I really liked the look of this particular thermometer and thought the wooden case might protect it. It's quite large and the wood isn't that strong, so it feels a bit unstable, but I'm probably projecting because of my fear of a broken thermometer cleaning. On closer inspection the wood is 100% decorative and any protection would be minimal, but it is no more dangerous than any other Galileo thermometer. I also placed it in a place where it is less likely to tip over. At first I thought mine wasn't assembled properly when I first opened it up because it looked like the wooden floor was on top and at first glance the center glass spheres looked fine. . I thought I would have to unscrew it and flip the central glass piece, but turns out I just flipped it upside down. Without adjusting anything I carefully rotated the whole thermometer into position and the center glass beads just flipped over and everything looked great. I really like looking at it and it's really visible, so I often check the temperature.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
