Review on Enhanced EZ-POUR Spout - Upgrade Your Water Jug or Gas Can - Revitalize Your Existing Can by Robert Morrison

I can use my gas canister again without spilling gas everywhere!

Hooray! I can use gas canisters again! It has been many years since I bought a gas cartridge. I unknowingly threw away one of the "good" old models that had about 5 year old petrol in it and sat outside. I just figured it would be easier to buy a new one than to clean the old one. To my surprise, there were no normal gas cartridges. Just those new, expensive things that are mandated by the EPA. So I understand that things can't be that bad. Well, if you're reading this, you know the bottom line. After all, every time I tried to use this new thing, I lost more than my old one came out in 10 years. This new vented spout works just like the old style. Open the vent and pour. No gas spills, no fiddling with the hard "latch” filler neck, no buttons to push, no latches to flip out. Installation was easy. My gas tank was empty (I never wanted to refill it because of the mess) which made it even easier. I removed the old spout and checked which of the two supplied clips fitted my glass (it was the yellow one). Then I took a step drill and made a correct size hole (1/2) in the glass at the highest point. The biggest issue is that when I designed my gas cylinder I had to mount it a bit higher than I wanted so I could still get 5 gallons in the can but still be able to pour through the vent. Not that big of a deal, but you need to do some planning before you poke a hole and ruin the gas canister. I put a small gas tight gasket over my new bleed screw, but I probably didn't need it since the hole I drilled was very narrow. I used a rubber mallet to push it all the way in. I used some water to rinse out the gas canister to make sure no bits of plastic were left inside (none came out but you need to make sure). I let it dry in the sun all day and then went out and filled it up with petrol. I would almost say it's a pleasure to fill up now. I have a note: my old jar had a spout that you could twist inward and then close, so I didn't have a spout that was hanging around all the time. This one doesn't allow that, but no big problem, just a small problem.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad
