I've been looking for a good quality, inexpensive soldering station and I think it's great. What I like about it is how quickly it heats up. From cold to 800F+ in about 10 seconds. The sleep function works great. Remember that you must insert the tip very deeply into the mount so that it hooks into the electrical connector. If the station reads E-5, it probably means the tip wasn't inserted deep enough. If you have an e-5, place the tip, white stripe side, into the holder on a hard surface and press down on the tip with about 50 pounds of force. It clicks again and begins to heat up. I had to call Hakko tech support to get my handpiece in just enough and they explained the procedure. I have to say that Hakko's technical support has been extremely helpful and patient. One more thing. There are many reviews stating that the user interface is gutted. I do not agree. I downloaded two manuals from the Hakko website. One of them went through a full menu of station options. After reading this I found that the UI is very easy to manage.
