Coffee making can drive you crazy if you are a coffee drinker and want a good cup in the morning. I've tried them all, even the French Press. Everyone has their own problems and shortcomings. I recently used a double wall Bodum irrigation. This worked very well until a very light tap on the counter broke the outer glass wall - there was no more vacuum insulation. :-/ I threw my hands in the air and just went with the traditional programmable one and because of its looks and color I went with Nostalgia. We bought their microwave a few years ago and used it during our kitchen renovation and found it reliable (apart from being cute as hell). So far this coffee maker has been exactly as described. There were a few hiccups on the first or second use when I made some programming mistakes, but it makes good coffee. The cons are: 1. There is no outside window to see how much water you are adding. I didn't notice this when I selected it, but if you stick your head out you can look down and see the 'stair steps', which are different tiers of 'cups' of water. Not very comfortable but good. The next point concerns the programming – or not – of the machine. I prefer NOT to program it to turn on, but just press "Start" when I first get up and wait 5 minutes for it to finish brewing. No. 2. When you press the button to turn it off, the "Auto" light comes on immediately and you have to press the power button again to actually turn it off. If you don't, then you have "Auto" or program to start enabled and the next pot will appear at 00:00 (like mine) and you will wake up with a pot of cold coffee. So I'm not sure why the "Auto" and "Power" buttons seem to be on the same circuit (?), but it's not that big of a deal, you just need to be aware of it. Looks great, nice color and the basket is easy to pull out, throw away and empty. It's not too big (like the Kuerig I had) and looks great on my counter.
