I drove my car along the coast for a week. Driven more than 1300 km. No tears, no tears. The impregnation worked perfectly. There is a small flap that runs the entire length of the zipper. If you don't tie the straps properly, it will lift up when you start moving. Be sure to fasten the straps around the flap to prevent it from "popping" and allowing water to enter the zipper. It also comes with all the hooks and straps, but they suck. I bought an extra set of ratchet straps for the truck to fully hold it. Without them I'm not sure I could attach it to the car. I didn't have any cross members on my SUV either. Regular side carriers only. Nothing had to be changed for every 1000 km. I was very scared because on similar products you will find reviews of products that blew / drove. At one point I drove over 80 mph for several hours and had no problems. I would buy this again in a heartbeat. I've given up putting it back in my tote bag. It's not a deal breaker, but I wish it would fit in my tote bag a lot easier after my trip. I'll just buy him a bigger one.
