Review on 🚲 Capstone 2 Bike Carrier Hitch Mount by Bill Schlag

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good price, looks ok, very functional.

I think it's great value for money. Not as "stylish" as the expensive Thule or Kuat racks, but for a fraction of the price it gets the job done. The only thing that I think could be better is how far it protrudes from the vehicle, even when folded. Because of this, it is inconvenient for me to take it to the parking lot at my work place as there is not enough space there. The anti-sway mechanism in the hitch works well, but tightening and loosening with a fat bolt takes a little longer than simply pulling the hitch bolt out. To do this, take a ratchet wrench or a drill, and then this problem will be minimal. To update. After using it for a few months I finally used it on a rougher dirt road (nothing extreme). The bumps triggered a folding feature that allows him to recline 45 degrees to access the tailgate and free it with the bike on it. This has happened 3 times in a row, although the spring release is still working properly. I see that this rack cannot be used on bumpy or rough roads, only smooth pavement. A locking pin must be inserted through the rod to prevent the folding hinge from unlocking while driving. I can try to change it to add it myself. I deducted a star for that.
