I bought these boards for my WLED project. With a 5m LED strip I had to use an external power supply to power the board and lights (those small boards just can't power that many lights via USB). After setting up the wled I was able to get it working with just a few lights on the cord and a USB power supply, but once I set it to use the entire strip and hooked up an external power supply, it thrived the standby mode. emergency loop. I never found out why, but I tried another ESP8266 board and it worked exactly as expected. Otherwise the board worked great, I can't explain why it didn't work for my project. I still have the boards and might try them again in a future project, but it just won't work for this.
