Fits in my streamlined Subaru/Thule trunk although the mounting bolts are slightly longer and the rubber grommets only grip the bar at the ends, not the center of the steel pillar mounting plate. While it appears to be firmly connected to the handlebars, the surface area providing traction isn't as great if your car has faired handlebars. Should be fine for short trips to a lake or pond, but I wouldn't go cross-country kayaking at highway speeds. You get what you pay for and it's still a pretty good deal at this price point, hence the 5 star rating. You won't find a better $50 folding stand.
