Review on Miady 50AMP Replacement Unplug Design by Sean Bouchard

Second Lighting & Electrical Review

This replacement 50 amp plug is of much better quality than the yellow ones I have used and dreaded for years. I'm assuming this one will hold up much better. It was also delivered as promised which is always a plus. I ordered a women's version of this fork from Miady in September 2019 and it didn't perform as well as the men's version I reviewed here. For some reason, every time I try to review a women's fork, I come back to this review with an option to edit it. I'd rather look at it separately. I installed it at the end of my long 50 amp power strip that I only use 2-3 times a year. I've been using this cable since 2004 with a metal box jack because I've never had good success with yellow camco jacks. I installed it at the end of September and knew I would need this lengthy extension next week. After a few days, one leg of my strength would occasionally fail. I had a 50 amp line filter plugged into the wall and performance was stable there. I eventually traced it back to a Miady socket I just bought and installed. When I had a chance to take it apart all connections were good and tight. I completely disassembled the Miady and found that the metal slots were badly bent, resulting in an intermittent connection. The plastic has melted too. I have no choice but to buy another one, but it will definitely be disassembled so I can check for bent parts. I will post a photo.
