I purchased this item based on a real2all1 review. Its rating is correct except that it requires 3 AA batteries. Here are some helpful tips I also learned: 1. This device destroys the night vision in the eye you are using. However, there is a cure. Put the red lens on the eyepiece. I used the red lens that came with an old AA flashlight I had. The lens is 1.120 inches in diameter, but something bigger would be better, say 30-35mm. I attached it with small pieces of tape. 2. The first thing to do after turning on the viewer is to rotate the eyepiece so that the indicators (battery, sensitivity level, and IR level) are in focus. Later, when looking at objects, rotate the lens, similar to how you focus binoculars. 3. Give the item a chance to function properly while you learn how best to use it. I suggest looking down a dark country road with no houses. Focus on fence posts and trees along the road. (I could easily see over 100 meters). Drive 100 meters down the street and then look back at your parked car with your headlights off. See how clearly you can see him, as well as the person when you have someone with you. 4. Settings. I've found that a medium frame rate setting of 15 works best when paired with medium to high IR settings. Changing the magnification from 3x to 6x was useless. It is best to use zero magnification (1X). 5. Use-View works best in open areas. Viewing vegetation only 10 to 20 meters away causes the viewer to be overloaded with reflected IR light. Use the default (low) settings for both frame rate and IR intensity for the best results when viewing objects close to you. 6. Finally, if I could ask the manufacturer to change something, I would add an interchangeable red eyepiece and only have a 1x magnification. Like the Real2all1 reviewer, I think this is a great device considering the price tag of around $112.
