Review on ๐Ÿ”Š Audioengine HD6 Wireless Desktop Monitor Speakers - Home Music System with aptX HD Bluetooth, 150W Bookshelf Stereo Speakers, AUX, USB, Optical, RCA, 24-bit DAC (White) by Amy Walker

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Aesthetically pleasing, feels premium but muddy sound.

PROS: I liked the cherry wood finish, the magnetic snap covers, and the overall quality feel of these speakers. Almost every button, jack, cable, and IR remote spoke to me of a "quality productโ€ at first glance. Well, the remote could have been a little more responsive, but it was a COOL, solid piece of aluminum!) I really, really wanted these speakers to stay with me and stay with me CONS: Sound Quality Either there was too much wax in your ears, or you blanketed an array of speakers that would otherwise be crisp, and then played a song, looking for that clean voice you remember - that's how they sounded (remember Massive Attack). Messazine, Third Portishead, or Elsiana Hybrid, but in a water tank.) Bass was heavy, mids were unusually high, and highs were low and tight. After the first listen I immediately started looking for reasons why my music sounded like behind a glass wall. do you have punch Sure, but they're as sharp as a butter knife. After testing a few sound sources with my current speakers (nothing special - Vizio soundbar, UE Megaboom BT speakers, and a Dell soundbar that I recently picked for a monitor); and after calling in a professional musician and playing them something, I concluded it was the HD6. Subjective and anecdotal? Sorry I don't have the science lab and equipment to give you the raw data on why I didn't like those sounds. Call me stupid for not checking Revain reviews before buying because didn't you know that "dirty" is a common experience with this one! Grrr. Sorry Audio Engine guys, you guys pump, but this speaker doesn't. I'm getting a refund.
