A Thousand Stars!: Paint, Wall Care and Accessories

This is amazing! My expectations were low that I could use it, but the material is very forgiving. I just wanted to cover up the painted grille parts on my Honda Odyssey. I don't like the Odyssey's grille, so I decided to improve it by painting the chrome parts the same color as the body. Unfortunately, here in Maine in the winter, the entire front of a car is plagued by sand and rocks. It only took me about a week to receive some small chips. So I decided to try 3M Stone Guard film. The first one looked awful but I figured I'd just keep going with the others and see if my skills improve. No matter how hard I tried, water still bubbled up from under the foil. I've seen discussions on the forums that this will clear up over time and with exposure to the sun, but I was worried that bad things could happen if I put the grille back on the car in sub-zero temperatures (Meng!). So I did what I could and then put the parts in an oven in the basement where the temperature is around +80f. I am freaking amazed that after a few days there are no bubbles left and even the first part I made looks perfect. If you knew me, you would know that perfection is rare. I'm obsessed with my cars. Who else would waste time improving the Honda Odyssey? It's as if the experienced 3M Elves worked a few nights re-coating the fairing pieces. Wonderful! Oh, and this thing is so hard. I don't think I will have a problem with store bought chips. I look forward to trying my hand at some larger items.
