I am very happy with this lens. I considered the cheaper Sigma lens but ended up with Canon. Sigma should be very sharp. but that's all he has. On my Canon 5Dmk 3 I see no problem with the sharpness of this lens. The lens seems exceptionally sharp wide open, even at the edges. At an aperture of f/2.0 or f/2.8 it gets a bit sharper in the corners, but it's so sharp at the beginning that there really isn't much room for improvement. I have Canon 5L-class lenses and several other non-L Canon lenses. This lens is sharper than any of the non-L lenses and at least as sharp at full aperture as all my other L lenses except my 70-200 mm f/2.8 L II lens known for its legendary sharpness. I bought Canon through Sigma for a number of reasons. It is weatherproof and sometimes I shoot in humid or dusty places. I haven't heard too many people complaining about the focus accuracy of the Sigma 35mm lens, but I do know that some Sigmas have had focus accuracy issues (50mm) and firmware issues on various cameras. I bought a Canon knowing that like all modern L lenses, it has a very fast and accurate focusing system. The Canon lens feels better and offers more reliable and consistent focusing. It exudes quality. All in all it's a really good lens and I'm glad I bought it.
